Daily Literacy Routine (reading, writing, word work)
1. READING: 20 minutes a day Please be sure to build in at least 20 minutes of reading in your day! Keep in mind, this can be broken up into two 10 minute blocks of time. Students can read books from home, books from the local library, books online, etc. Below are some links to various online books as well - some students have accounts for these websites.

2. WRITING Complete ONE journal entry a day. Below is a list of fun ideas students may want to write about. They can also write about their weekends, something exciting happening for them, etc.
Here are our journal writing expectations that we use in class. Please follow these expectations when overseeing your child's work:
IMPORTANT REMINDERS: 1. 5 Star Sentences - capitial letters, proper punctuation, spelling, makes sense, etc. 2. Length: grade 3 students should be writing approx. 6 sentences about their chosen topic, plus an introduction and conclusion sentence 3. EDIT YOUR WORK - you MUST read your finished work OUT LOUD
3. WORD WORK (spelling) This week we will tackle some of the most commonly misspelled words for grade 3s - also know as 'Must Know' words. These are words we find our students are still struggling with in their daily writing. Please use the spelling menu below, and tackle a few activities a day to help practice these tricky words.
